There are many reasons to go to the doctor, but a very common reason is pain. Chronic pain—pain lasting three or more months—affects thousands of service members and their families every day. One such type of pain is low back pain.

Although the overall death rate from colorectal cancer has been on the decline in recent years, it remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. There has also been an increase in colorectal cancer-related death for people younger than 55, and an increase in diagnosis in patients between the ages of 40-49 over the past decade, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Do you have health care coverage through the Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP)? You may have noticed that your current CHCBP premium rate extended this year through Dec. 31. Why? Because the CHCBP premium rate cycle is shifting from the federal government fiscal year (Oct. 1–Sept. 30) to the calendar year (Jan. 1–Dec. 31) next year. This means that every year, any future premium rate changes will go into effect on Jan. 1. The changes will happen automatically—you won’t need to do anything.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital conducted an NCO Induction Ceremony, June 14, where Soldiers were formally welcomed into the U.S. Army’s Noncommissioned Officer Corps. NCO Induction Ceremony is a time-honored Army custom marking the transition of an individual Soldier to a leader in the NCO Corps. It's a formal recognition for new corporals and sergeants, marking their increased responsibility for training and leading junior enlisted Soldiers for a ready Force. There was a party recently during Blanchfield Army Community Hospital’s breastfeeding support group, Mom & Me. BACH outpatient certified lactation consultant Audrey Sundbye and Women’s Health Clinic nurse Gimmena Doolittle had a framed certificate and a graduation cap for one young member. Group moms and babies gathered round in support and a dinosaur birthday cake was nearby. Group participant U.S. Army Spc. Jacqueline Kerchner’s son turned 1-year old and reached the 12-month milestone for breast feeding.
