Vision Services
Soldier Optometry Services
Soldiers receive their Optometry services at their Soldier Centered Medical Home. LaPointe Soldier Medical Home offers an Optometry Clinic for vision readiness.
Ophthalmology Clinic
Beneficiaries are referred to the Ophthalmology Service by their primary care manager. Ophthalmologists work to prevent and treat conditions concerning the eye such as glaucoma, cataracts, strabismus, keratoconus (conical cornea), and diabetes. After a referral is made by the primary care manager, the Ophthalmology staff will call to schedule the appointment. Follow-up appointments are arranged by calling the clinic. For emergencies, report to the emergency room or your assigned clinic or medical home for initial evaluation. Referrals can be made to the Ophthalmology Clinic as necessary for further care. Please call the clinic at 270-798-8900 to schedule a follow-up appointment.
Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Center
The Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Center (WRESC) provides services to active duty service members who are stationed at Fort Campbell and have at least six months remaining on active duty from the day of surgery. Combat Arms Soldiers receive first priority. The WRESC performs two types of surgeries, LASIK and PRK (photorefractive keratectomy). Both of these procedures use the same laser to reshape the cornea on the front surface of the eye. If you are interested in receiving refractive eye surgery, open and complete the following packets: WRESC Screening and Selection, WRESC Packets Soldiers not assigned to Fort Campbell, and WRESC Instructions. Also Soldiers should take their Soldier Talent Profile or SRB along with their packet to their scheduled appointment.
